Accessibility statement
We want pulsekite.com to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, high contrast or other assistive technology. This statement describes what we have done, the standard the site meets, what we know is not yet fully accessible, and how to reach us.
Who is responsible
The operator of pulsekite.com: [to be supplied: legal name, address, e-mail].
What this statement covers
This statement covers the pages of pulsekite.com: the home page, this accessibility statement, the privacy policy, the terms of use and the not-found page. The live demo at /demo/ is covered only in part; see "Known limitations" below.
The legal framework and the standard
Accessibility of internet services in Israel is governed by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998, and by regulation 35 of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013. Regulation 35 requires an internet service to meet Israeli Standard IS 5568, "Accessibility guidelines for internet content", at level AA. IS 5568 adopts the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 of the W3C, with Israeli adaptations.
The site is built to meet IS 5568 at level AA. Our own design target is higher: WCAG 2.2 level AA, which contains every level AA success criterion of WCAG 2.0 and adds newer ones, such as a focused element that is never hidden, a minimum size for touch targets and sign-in without a memory test. Within the limitations listed below, the pages this statement covers meet IS 5568 level AA, according to our own check.
The accessibility adjustments made on the site
- Skip link. The first stop of the keyboard on the home page is a "Skip to main content" link that moves past the header and its navigation.
- Visible focus. Every link, button and form field shows a clear 3-pixel focus ring in a high-visibility color when it is reached with the keyboard.
- Keyboard operation. Everything on the site can be used with the keyboard alone: the navigation, the mobile menu, the product tour, the questions and answers, the form and the accessibility menu. The accessibility menu closes with the Escape key and returns the focus to its Accessibility button.
- Large targets. Buttons, menu items and form controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels, so they are easy to hit with a finger, a pointer or a head or mouth stick.
- Labelled form fields. Every field of the demo request form has a visible label tied to it, required fields are marked, and an error is written next to the field it belongs to and linked to it, so a screen reader reads it with the field; the focus moves to the first field that needs attention.
- An accessibility menu (the "Accessibility" button in the bottom right corner of the home page), remembered in your browser for your next visit:
- text size in four steps, up to 144%;
- high contrast (black and yellow on black);
- highlighted links (underlined and outlined);
- a readable font with wider letter and word spacing;
- stop animations, which stops every moving element of the page;
- reset, which restores the default settings.
- Reduced motion. When your operating system asks for reduced motion, the site plays no opening animation and no moving effects, exactly as with "Stop animations". The page is complete without any animation.
- Text alternatives. Every meaningful image, including the screenshots of the product, has a text alternative that says what it shows; decorative images and effects are hidden from screen readers. Numbers that count up during the opening are read by screen readers as their final value.
- Structure. Pages use real headings, lists, landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) and buttons, and declare their language, so that a screen reader can announce and navigate them.
- Zoom and reflow. The pages can be enlarged with the browser's zoom to 400% and work on a phone-width screen without scrolling sideways.
- Colors and contrast. Text and controls meet the contrast ratios of level AA against their background, and no information is given by color alone.
- Nothing from third parties. The site loads no content, fonts, scripts, chat windows or widgets from other companies, so there is no third-party content whose accessibility we cannot control.
Known limitations
We are aware of the following, and we are working on them. If any of them prevents you from getting information or a service, contact us (below) and we will give you the information in another accessible way.
- The live demo. The demo is the PulseKite product's own dashboard, shown as it is on fictional data of a company called Contoso. It is a working product interface with dense tables, charts and many controls. It has keyboard operation, labels for screen readers, a reduced motion setting and its own light and dark themes, but it was not checked against IS 5568 as part of this statement, and parts of it, especially charts, may be hard to use with a screen reader. The accessibility menu of the home page does not apply inside the demo. On request we will walk you through the product or describe a screen in words.
- Screenshots. The screenshots of the product on the home page are pictures. Their text alternatives say what each one shows and the surrounding text describes the features, but the individual numbers and labels inside a screenshot are not available as text.
- The demo request form is not active. The form checks what you type and sends nothing. To ask for a demo or for anything else, use the contact details below.
- Animations. The home page plays a short opening animation of about 2.5 seconds once per browser tab, and some decorative elements keep moving while the page is open. All of them stop with "Stop animations" in the accessibility menu or with the reduced motion setting of your operating system, and the strip of data sources also pauses while the pointer is over it.
- Language. The site is available in English only.
- Manual testing. Our latest check was an internal one (see the dates below). It has not yet been reviewed by an external accessibility expert or tested by users of screen readers, and its results may change after such a review.
